Plans and Designs
We have had discussions and costings from Clever Curves - a ramp-building company - for the previous option at the Recreation centre. It was an extendable design that could have grown if the demand warranted. Three levels of costings were produced, each building on the previous design.
What we want.
Ramps, bowls, grind bars, jumps, half-pipes - well actually a place for all this sort of stuff to go......
Where we want them.
From early in 1999, we worked hard to locate potential sites. Places we investigated included - Milnab Street warehouse; Halley's yard; the St. Johnstone building; and local farms (sites and barns). Finally it appeared that there was a realistic possibility of using land at the Strathearn Recreation Centre. That fell through as well. Now there seems to be some possibility of ramps being part-funded by PKC - a 700sq. metre park has been mentioned - but there needs to be support and involvement by the youth to make this happen.
Why we want them.
As teenagers, we don't actually want to cause disruption on the street with our blades and boards - but there isn't anywhere else to go. With ramp facilities we would have a place designed for our activities that will 'take us off the street' and let us have our fun with our blades, boards or bikes.
